During the month of July, Diabetes Australia raises the awareness of the impact of Diabete's in Australia.

ONE person every FIVE minutes is diagnosed with Diabetes in Australia1

Taking some time each day to look over your feet and being aware of the risks associated with your feet as a diabetic may help prevent serious issues such as foot ulcers, wound infections and toe amputations.

General Practioners in Australia recommend an annual check up with your local podiatrist.

What you can expect from an annual Diabetic Assessment at Tread Right Podiatry?

Blood Circulation Assessment

Why monitor the health of my foot's circulation?

Diabetic's are more at risk of reduced blood circulation around their bodies. Your blood's circulation is incredibly important for transportation of nutrients and oxygen.

At Tread Right Podiatry, during a diabetic assessment, our podiatrist assess your foot's circulation through the use of a doppler.

Neurological Assessment

Why check the health of my feet's nerves?

Diabetic's are at greater risk of nerve damage. If the nerves in your feet are compromised, it can lead to foot ulcers, wounds and amputations.

At Tread Right Podiatry our podiatrists will preform a Monofilament Check to determine the health of your foot nerves.

Foot Health Inspection

Why do I need a podiatrist to check the health of my feet?

A Tread Right Podiatrist will look over your feet for any signs of:

  • dry skin or excessive moisture
  • thickened skin, such as calluses or corns
  • breaks in the skin, such as cracks, blisters or ulcers
  • signs of infection, including redness or darker skin than usual
  • any change in the shape and thickness of your nails, and any in-grown nails
  • any change in the shape of your feet, such as bunions or claw toes

Any signs of the these issues, left untreated can increase the risk of ulcers and wounds.
